REGGAE AND DANCEHALL ARTISTS RETURN TO MALAWI AFTER INSPIRING TRIP TO JAMAICA

 

A group of talented Reggae and Dancehall artists from Malawi has just returned home after an exciting journey to Jamaica, the birthplace of Reggae music. The 15-member band, which includes well-known artists like Don Tarz, Ann Matumbi, Kellie Divine Njuchi, Blasto, and Born Afrikan, arrived at Kamuzu International Airport this afternoon, bringing back a wealth of new experiences and inspiration.

The trip, which was sponsored by youthful Minister Vitumbiko Mumba, President Lazarus Chakwera, and Baba Steve Malondera, was more than just a performance opportunity, it was a chance for the artists to immerse themselves in the rich musical culture of Jamaica. Ann Matumbi, one of the artists who made the trip, shared that the experience was transformative. "We learned so much about music in Jamaica, and this will definitely have a positive impact on our performances moving forward," he said.

The Flames Band, as the group is known, is expected to bring fresh energy and new influences to the Malawian music scene, blending traditional sounds with the authentic Reggae and Dancehall vibes they absorbed during their time in Jamaica.
